Here are some of our thoughts (please listen to the podcast for a complete description):

Ambiance / description of place / music / WIFI

Chris – Weird metal grate as soon as you come in – looks like you would JUST be able to fit a wheelchair.  Several TVs around – as you would expect in a pub.  Mix of booths, tables, and a small-ish bar.  Can’t remember if there was wifi.

Margaret – Just a pub without the drunks.

Greeting / reception

Chris – Seemed a little harried – place was at approximately 60% capacity.

Margaret – Nothing special.

Menu prices

Chris – Standard for a pub, maybe a little bit on the higher side

Variety

Chris – Standard pub fair.  Major emphasis on burgers – front page.

Margaret – Standard pub fair – good selection of poutines and burgers.  Lots of side choices either free or at extra cost.

Charlotte – Covered many areas – looked like something for everyone.

Smell / look / taste of Deep-fried pickles

Chris – Good breading (looks like dill in the breading), but the pickles had no real flavour.

Margaret – Like it better as slices (coins).  Would not order these again.  Did not like the coating – the texture is doughy.

Charlotte – Too big but not bad.

Smell / look / taste of Chicken and Waffle Burger

Chris – Ever since Shrek I love the opportunity to say waffles.  Awkward to cut, plus sauce makes it messy to eat with hands.  Crispy waffles.  Chicken comparable to KFC.  Good use of crispy bacon to add flavour.

Margaret – Definite hint of maple.

Charlotte – Waffle sauce tastes like cream cheese yogurt – akin to fruit tray.

Smell / look / taste of Deep-Fried Burger with Fries

Chris – Loved the texture and the sour cream.  Pickles could have more flavour.

Margaret – Going to the pool later on.  Must cook the burger first.  Dough not crispy, especially on the bottom (lots of folds).  Maybe not supposed to be.  Don’t like fries with the skins on them.

Smell / look / taste of Poutine Burger with Mashed Potatoes

Chris – Charlotte ate poutine part first – just tasted like a regular burger.

Margaret – don’t like gravy (doesn’t taste home-made).

Charlotte – Smells like hay in a barn.  Poutines tastes good.

Why we chose menu items

Chris – Waffles and chicken – sounded interesting.  Picked something from their front page.

Margaret – Like fried pickles.  Deep-fried burger sounded interesting.

Charlotte – Like poutine, sounds interesting.  Made sure to get a side order of potatoes.

Service / wait staff knowledge

Chris – Lack of utensils may have been due to clearing the table while we were waiting.

Margaret – Hard to catch their eye.  Come with condiments and napkins but no utensils for fried pickles.

Charlotte – I think the waitress was nice.

Overall dining experience

Chris – Dessert menu had dried food on it.  Debated on dessert – many things looked interesting but nothing really jumped out.  Plus, ladies did not finish their meals…  Did not come back for a coffee refill.

Margaret – Nothing bad nothing great.  Like the music (new country).  Did not come back for drink refills.  Don’t like being called “guys” or being told to “have a good one”.

Would we go again?

Chris – Okay, but better places.

Margaret – Not for another year or two.  Not as good as I remember.

Charlotte – Once in a year – kind of like KFC.
