Here are some of our thoughts (please listen to the podcast for a complete description):
Ambiance / description of place / music / WIFI
Chris – Airport, exposed overhead but still trying to make it work. Lots of TVs on sports channels (French subtitles), modern tables and chairs. Can be misled by all the tables were set up with coffee cups – those were ‘breakfast’ tables so we got shifted. Playing hits of the 80s and 90s such as Wilson Philips. Airport Wi-Fi is available!
Margaret – No ambiance really because it’s open and at an airport.
Greeting / reception
Chris – Very friendly bilingual host.
Margaret – Good – friendly (even though we sat in the ‘closed’ section.
Chris – Airport reasonable at first glance, but a bit shocking when you see the final bill!
Margaret – Airport reasonable.
Chris – lots of traditional appetizers, pasta, and burgers.
Margaret – Small menu but a good selection.
Smell/look/taste of Triple Cheese Bacon Beef Burger
Chris – Really had no smell – got a better sense of an earthy smell from the Portobello burger. I really like the pretzel bun look, but it made for a really thick burger. The burger itself was unremarkable, but I loved the cheese combination (have I mentioned I love cheese?). The fries were okay, but I could tell that we’re in Quebec – they were served with a side of mayo. There was ketchup and mustard made available, but no relish. The coleslaw was average (probably from a bucket), but I gave it away since Margaret loves it!
Margaret – Hard to bite (big). Tasty.
Smell/look/taste of Portobello Mushroom Beef Burger
Chris – Good taste on the Portobello, but I think I made the right choice
Margaret – Very good. Mushrooms cooked nicely – like the way that they were chopped. The cheese was nice. There was a tangy sauce on the side – I didn’t like it (Charlotte thought it was weird on how it transitioned from tasting like a BBQ sauce to a sour sauce to a sweet sauce.)
Smell/look/taste of Chicken Quesadillas
Chris – Charlotte had chicken quesadillas, but wasn’t sharing so we don’t know!
Margaret – ???
Why we chose menu items
Chris – It’s what I was going to order, but the waiter recommended it so ‘fait accompli’. I was also going to have a pop but he recommended a Rickards Red, so…
Margaret – I like mushrooms! (was a toss-up with the three-cheese burger)
Service/wait staff knowledge
Chris – Couldn’t really tell, but what a good recommendation!
Margaret – Fast service but hard to tell his depth of knowledge since we didn’t ask questions.
Overall dining experience
Chris – Pleasant, our flight was still on time so no worries there…
Margaret – Company was pleasant and the food was nice.
Would we go again?
Chris – Not giving it away, but probably the best choice in the US Pre-Clearance area
Margaret – If we’re ever in this part of the Montreal Airport then yes
